Project Description

Otium worked with Tamworth City Council to provide a feasibility assessment on the potential development of an aquatic park with leisure and water play at the existing Tamworth Olympic Swimming Pool site.

The purpose of the proposed development is to support the aquatic and leisure needs of residents whilst providing a catalyst to support the Tamworth Regional Blueprint 100 – a plan to guide future use of land within the Region towards a population of 100,000 people.

Our role on this project included:

  • Identification of the key trends/best practice in the provision of outdoor leisure water/aquatic park facilities
  • Identification of likely usage
  • Development of:
    • the opportunities and constraints related to the development of leisure water facilities in the two areas
    • high-level concept plans
    • high-level capital cost estimate
    • Identification of operational costs and capital costs.

The concept plans for a redeveloped Tamworth Swimming Pool demonstrate how Council can transform the site into an iconic water leisure destination that is integrated within the Tamworth Regional Parklands, providing a unique CBD destination that can provide for a range of year-round recreation activities that complement the network of aquatic facilities in the Tamworth LGA.
