Otium Planning Group’s Bruce Mackay GAICD will bring his knowledge and expertise by presenting ‘Re-starting your Business – Lessons from Greenfields’ as part of the webinar series supported by Life Saving Victoria and Fitness Australia on Thursday, 7 May.

Bruce has extensive experience in opening and managing multiple regional and local aquatic centres and indoor sports stadia. He has a deep and broad understanding of the aquatic and recreation sector, recently serving as CEO of two wholly owned local government start-up enterprises for the cities of Wyndham and Frankston. Bruce said, “I am looking forward to sharing some of the key learnings from projects I have been involved with and how this can translate to the re-opening of centres after COVID-19”.

As part of his role at Otium, Bruce is responsible for Operational Management Support and the Advisory Services Unit. He provides facility owners and managers with practical support and management advice to maximise their return on capital and operational investment, usage and overall viability.

He has assisted many Councils prepare operational management plans for their facilities, including in-house management, contract or local government business entities. He has recently been involved with the following greenfield projects: Rosebud Aquatic Centre, Gippsland Regional Aquatic Centre, Traralgon Sport Stadium and the Waves Aquatic Centre (NSW).
