Project Description

The purpose of this project was to provide direction for the Central Coast Council on the future development and management of its open space portfolio.

Outcomes of the project included the following Citywide Strategic Recommendations:

  • Planning frameworks and provision tools to encourage active lifestyles by ensuring that the recreation and sporting parks network is fit for purpose and outdoor recreation opportunities are distributed equitably.
  • Detailed background research and Community and stakeholder engagement report.
  • Provision plans for 8 planning areas to deliver a sufficient supply of “fit for purpose” land to meet recreation and sporting needs.

Otium’s role in the project included:

  • Leading the project team, supported by Landscape Architects JMD Design.
  • Site Investigations involving Review of Existing Supply, Inventory, Site Inspections, Supply Mapping, Classification & Hierarchy.
  • Community & Stakeholder Engagement involving Awareness raising, Online tools, Surveys, interview and workshops.
  • Analysis & Reporting involving Needs Analysis, Strategy Framework, Review Workshop.
  • Draft & Final Reports including reviews and feedback.
