Otium Planning Group has established a three-year partnership with Parks and Leisure Australia to support the Generate Network for young professionals in our industry.  Generate was launched at the 2017 PLA National Conference.

The Generate Network is an Australia and New Zealand industry initiative established to connect, engage and develop the industry’s young professionals and new arrivals to the industry (who may not be so young).  Otium is pleased to support this great initiative that will improve professional development, networking and mentoring opportunities for Generate Members.

Otium’s support includes a financial commitment as well as some technical support for Generate projects and provision of mentoring opportunities for a number of young professionals every year. The first recipient, Sarah McPhee, Recreation Development Officer at Macedon Ranges Shire Council, is being mentored by Kate Maddock, Otium’s Managing Director.

Generate will provide development opportunities for our young professionals to gather information, connect with our leaders and share their journey with like-minded people. The aim for us is to create with PLA an ongoing professional support program to inspire, empower and foster our industry’s emerging and future leaders.

Generate will be launching a number of new initiatives at the International Parks and Leisure Congress in October this year.
