On International Women’s Day, Otium is acknowledging and celebrating the amazing women, including those in our team, our industry partners, and our clients, that we work collaboratively with to support and encourage greater participation by women and girls in sport, recreation and leadership.
This is highlighted by the recent work we’ve done in collaboration with the seven councils that comprise the Melbourne East Region and the City of Greater Geelong in developing Fair Access Policies and Action Plans in response to Victoria’s Gender Equality Act 2020. The Policy aims to progressively build the capacity and capabilities of the councils and associated stakeholders in identifying and eliminating systemic causes of gender inequality in policy, programs, communications, and delivery and allocation of community sports and recreation infrastructure.
This Policy has been developed to consistently implement the Victorian Government Fair Access Policy Roadmap across the region, helping to level the playing field for women and girls in all levels of community sport, from grassroots participation to committee and leadership roles.
