Project Description

The Bonnie Vale Camping Ground and day visit area is located within The Royal National Park and offers a unique outdoor camping experience within a national park setting close to the southern urban area of Sydney.

Otium Planning Group Pty Ltd (OPG) was engaged by the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage (OEH) to prepare a business and facilities improvement plan for the camping area which;
·    Enhances the customer experience and meet customer and market expectations,
·    Protects the natural and cultural values of the site,
·    Maximises financial return to OEH,
·    Minimises asset liabilities, operating expenses and capital investment,
·    Encourages future private sector investment in OEH assets

OPG completed a detailed improvement master plan, including replacement of amenities, introduction of eco-cabins and more powered sites and service upgrades whilst keeping to the unique bushland and coastal setting.

Increased revenue from the new accommodation options was shown to be able to set up onsite management and caretaking which was essential to provide quality customer service in this isolated location.

A detailed master plan linked to a staged management and business model and works packages allows OEH to progressively upgrade and redevelop facilities either under direct control or through tendering for a management and investment partner.

It is estimated that on completion of all recommended works and management changes to the facility, the annual operating profit will be increased considerably over a 10-year period.
